Alumni Olivia Vande Woude has been enjoying deep dives into special collections since her high school visit to the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collection Library for a TWC student field trip, during which the fabulous Molly Schwartzburg gave her famous “history of the book” tour. The experience led Olivia to an academic senior internship at the library, some of which contributed to the William Faulkner exhibit.

She continues her passion with her participation at William & Mary in a look at the library of Marie Antionette for new Guggenheim Fellow – history Professor Ron Schechter. Olivia’s paper about Marie’s collection of 18th century jokes, many of which were political, includes some targetting Antoinette.
