Shawna Ervin has an MFA from Pacific Lutheran University. She was a finalist in Ruminate Magazine’s 2021 flash prose contest, and a semi-finalist in Ruminate’s 2022 poetry contest. Shawna was honored to be a Tupelo 30/30 poet in June 2022. She teaches college-level English classes to high schoolers and serves as a guest artist and mentor to struggling youth through Art from Ashes. Recent publications include Tampa Review, Bangalore Review, Rappahannock Review, Synkroniciti, The Maine Review, Sonora Review, Sweet: A Literary Confection, and elsewhere. Her poetry chapbook, Mother Lines, was published in 2020.
Miriam Calleja is a Maltese bilingual poet and wordsmith. She has three poetry collections – Pomegranate Heart, Inside, and Stranger Intimacy, and a collaboration titled Luftmeer. Her work appears in anthologies by Sentinel Quarterly, Indigo Dreams Publishing, The Gloucestershire Poetry Society, and elsewhere. Miriam believes that poetry and prose are tools for storytelling that encourage unity, connection, and understanding. She has great faith in collaboration as a key to communication. She has facilitated creative writing workshops, poetry courses, and community-led events for the past 7 years.
Charlotte Wood taught English for twenty years at and founded the only multi-level Creative Writing Program out of ten local high schools at Albemarle High School. She founded the award winning student run literary magazine The Lantern and was the faculty representative for twenty years. She brings her experience and resources to this hour and a half workshop and Q & A for teachers and students interested in starting or informing student led literary magazines in high schools around the country!
