Weekly Writing Workshops

Weekly Writing Workshops are held during the school year, from September through March via Zoom, Thursday evenings from 6:30-8pm unless otherwise noted. Meetings are canceled due to weather with public school closings.

Workshops begin in the fall with weekly writing exercises, peer revision, and visiting authors. Our first workshop at Writerhouse begins in September (check our Event page each August for the date.)

Workshops are offered in sequence with (free) registration. Students who do attend in sequence, build a powerful portfolio of work that can be submitted as a senior portfolio to colleges and writing contests. Weekly workshops are available to students for drop in as well unless otherwise noted but registration (below) is required to acquire the zoom link.

Field trips will be taken when it is deemed safe. Past field trips have included the Albert and Shirley Special Collections Library, The Bridge P.A.I., The Virginia Art of the Book Center, and local coffee shops (as an alternate and fun meeting venue).
