The Tupelo Press Teen Writing Center is organizing an anthology of teen writing from area High Schools within Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville including a small contest.  If you love to write and you are in grade 9-12 at any public, private or home-schooled program, we want to showcase your creative writing and personal essays with students from all over Charlottesville and Albemarle County!

CeciliaLompart1We are honored to announce that Cecilia Llompart will judge our contest.

Cecilia Llompart received her MFA in poetry at UVA in 2014. Her first collection,The Wingless, was published by Carnegie Mellon University Press in the spring of 2014. She is the recipient of two awards from the Academy of American Poets, and her work will be featured in anthologies forthcoming by Carnegie Mellon and Jaded Ibis Press.   Cecilia  will be teaching high school students while serving as chair of creative writing for BLUR: The Blue Ridge Summer Institute for Young Artists in June 2014 at Sweet Briar College.  You can read her impressive bio here:  CLlompartbio

 

 Entry Guidelines

A. You must include (1) the writer’s
name; (2) the name of the school or home school; (3) the teacher’s name
or parent/guardian’s’s name; and (4) the school or home phone number.
B. Submit all work to twc@tupelopress.org
C. Pieces previously published in school journals are accepted – we want to unite our young writers across all our schools
D. Pieces must be poetry or prose on any topic. Prose may not exceed
1,000 words. Poetry may not exceed two single-spaced pages.
E. Typed submissions are preferred, but not required.
F. Two Entries per Person.
G. Open to students in 9-12th grade Albemarle County and Charlottesville
H. Free copy of Anthology with submission
