Build Your Senior Writing Portfolio

Mentorships are offered to students in their senior year, wishing to develop a senior writing portfolio for college applications and writing contests. Mentors consist of published writers and students in the MFA programs of Hollins University and the University of Virginia, who make themselves available to answer questions, support and share perspective on choosing and assembling student work. Mentorships are not designed to provide significant revision or analysis of work, but rather to engage students with experienced writers and build confidence.

We have limited mentors in local MFA programs who volunteer their time to support assembling a senior writing portfolio. Students planning on submitting a senior writing portfolio to college writing programs, summer writing conferences, or the Scholastic National Writing Contest may apply to work with a mentor in the fall of 2015. All work in the portfolio must be completed by October 1st, 2015.
