Weekly Writing Workshops

Weekly Writing Workshops are held during the school year, from September through January at Writerhouse, Thursday evenings from 6:30-8pm unless otherwise noted. Meetings are canceled due to weather with public school closings, and occasional field trips are scheduled throughout the year.

Workshops begin in the fall with a kick-off writing workshop followed by weekly writing exercises, peer revision, and visiting authors.

Workshops are offered in sequence, but do not require registration unless noted. Students can attend in sequence, building a powerful portfolio of work that can be submitted as a senior portfolio to colleges and writing contests. Weekly workshops are available to students  for drop in as well unless otherwise noted.

Past field trips have included the Albert and Shirley Special Collections Library, The Bridge P.A.I., The Virginia Art of the Book Center, Millie Joe Café (as an alternate and fun meeting venue).
